RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Park Manager, the Park Patrol is responsible for patrolling all the park areas to ensure a safe, clean and compliant environment for all guests. Working during the evening; duties include monitoring campgrounds and day use area to ensure safety and compliance by following Park Regulations. Responding respectfully and appropriately to campers and visitors, representing both RLC Park Services and BC Parks. Other duties include collecting fees, selling firewood and maintenance/ cleaning duties as required.
PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Enjoy outdoor work and patrolling campgrounds at night.
- Ability to perform active work for an 8-hour shift, safely and comfortably lifting or moving work items, such as bundles of firewood.
- Have excellent public relation skills , customer service and comfortable dealing with conflict resolution.
- Displaying a friendly and positive attitude; working well both as a team member and independently.
- Ability to write reports, record pertinent information and keep a patrol log / notebook.
- Cash collection and reconciliation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Seasonal employment contract from May to September 2026, with opportunities for earlier and/or later employment depending on park operations and requirements.
- Evening shifts include weekends and holidays.
- Full and part – time work is offered. Full – time work is 35 to 40 hours per week.
- Wages range from $20 to $24 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
- Uniform supplied.
WORK LOCATIONS: Victoria, Sooke, Parksville/Qualicum, Port Alberni and Sunshine Coast.
- Parks in Victoria area – Goldstream.
- Parks in Sooke area- French Beach, Juan de Fuca and China Beach.
- South Gulf Islands – Ruckle Park (Salt Spring Island) and Montague Harbour (Galiano Island).
- Parks in Parksville/Qualicum area: Rathtrevor Beach, Englishman River, Little Qualicum Falls, Horne Lake, Descanso Bay (Gabriola Island) and Nanaimo Parks.
- Parks in Port Alberni area – Sproat Lake and Stamp River.
- Parks on Sunshine Coast – Saltery Bay and Inland Parks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION:
- Must have a valid Driver’s License – Drivers Abstract required to operate company vehicles.
- Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check upon hiring. Company applications available.
- Current First Aid Certification (OFA) is an asset
