About the Park
Nicknamed, “Little Hawaii,” the white sandy beaches of Tribune Bay stretch endlessly out to meet an aquamarine sea. Tribune Bay Provincial Park is a popular destination for campers and beach-goers. The campsite is conveniently located between the large beach day-use area and the central hub of Hornby Island, which boasts a large Co-Op, gas station, local market, and food stalls. The south-facing Tribune Bay day-use area has close to 1 km of fine white sand beach and is a spectacular destination, accessible by ferry from the east side of Vancouver Island. Here, shallow waters meet tropical temperatures during the summer; Tribune Bay is one of the warmest saltwater swimming areas in B.C. The adjacent Tribune Bay campground was acquired by BC Parks and completely rebuilt in 2025-2026. This newly redesigned space is a high-density, family friendly campground. Changes for 2026 include additional power sites, improved amenities, and a new layout. Additionally, Tribune Bay now has 9 small cabins available to book for the 2026 camping season. Tribune Bay is 100% reservable – Reservations are highly recommended all season long. The intended opening dates for the campsite in 2026 are June 15th – October 13th, 2026.
