Fingers crossed that the last snow has fallen and that the rain quickly turns into sunshine. The first RVs and trailers are starting to make their appearance and gradually we see more and more camping sales pop-up in store windows. Though some of us may still be a bit reluctant, but we are going to call it; CAMPING SEASON IS HERE!!! This is extremely exciting because this means Go Camping BC has the opportunity to share with you the latest and greatest camping news.
As of January 2nd 2017, Discover Camping Reservations Service (DCRS) has implemented several changes. One of the most exciting changes is that campers can now reserve their favourite camping spot as soon as four months prior to their reservation date. In addition to this, DCRS has added some new measures to prevent resale and/or transferring of reservations. Also, the process of altering arrival dates has been modified with the intent to prevent overbooking campgrounds. This means that if a customer books on a release date (the maximum time in advance of a trip), this cannot be altered. A new reservation will have to be made and is allotted based on campsite availability. Finally DCRS is implementing a pilot project in select BC parks to shorten the maximum length of stay to seven days during the peak camping season with the intent to give every camper equal opportunity to enjoy the beautiful camping sites BC parks have to offer. For more information about the changes in CDRS operations please visit www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/reserve/discover-camping-faqs.html
Now that the formal camping news has been covered, Go Camping BC has some additional interesting news to share with you. Canadian RVing and Camping Week will unofficially kick off the camping season and will do so with multiple participating campgrounds from coast to coast will offer discounted campsite rates on reservations made between May 23rd – 28th .
